Double the joy: projects on the shortlist of the 15th BDA Award

The BDA – Brazilian Design Award reached its 15th edition in 2025. This marks our third participation in Brazil’s biggest design award. In our first, we took home two bronze medals. In our second, a naming project became a finalist for the first time. And this year’s theme was “Collaborate and Transform“.

“We celebrate difference as strength and collectivity as practice — but above all, we recognize design as an agent of transformation.”

ABEDESIGN – Brazilian Association of Design Companies

What is the BDA – Brazilian Design Award?

The , organized by ABEDESIGN (Brazilian Association of Design Companies) since 2009, is one of the most important moments in Brazilian design. Each edition is guided by a new theme that channels this creative energy, and this year, the manifesto invites us to see design as a living movement: multiple, migratory, and collective, where every idea is a wing and every collaboration is flight. For us, as a small two-person studio, being there alongside renowned professionals and large design studios we admire is one of those experiences that truly warms the heart. The BDA is this vibrant space where the design community comes together to recognize the transformative power of our work and being part of it fills our hearts with happiness.

Packaging and Brand Design on the Shortlist

When the BDA approaches, we take a deep dive into the projects we’ve created that year. We look at every detail, understand which categories they shine in the most, and from there, decide where to enter them. There’s a specific submission window for projects, so we can’t always send everything we’d like. Even so, the two projects we submitted made it onto the shortlist! Being on the shortlist is a bit like being nominated for the Oscars of design. An experienced jury reviews each entry and evaluates a range of criteria. After this stage, only the top-rated projects are selected. And in a year with over 1,200 submissions, according to the award organizers, seeing our projects recognized in two categories fills us with pride!

Lúcida Letra

The Brand Design category is highly competitive and, therefore, particularly challenging at the BDA, since some of Brazil’s most prominent design studios also focus on this segment. Our branding project for the Buddhist publisher Lúcida Letra (“Lucid Letter” in English) entered the small and medium-sized business subcategory, for companies with up to 100 employees. This project is already collecting recognitions: it was included in the 14th Brazilian Design Biennial Catalog, was a finalist at the LAD Awards, Latin America’s largest design award, and even received a special highlight badge for branding on our Behance profile.

Lúcida Letra is a publisher that translates Buddha’s teachings into Portuguese, using letters as a path to the sources of knowledge. That’s why letters became the core material of the entire project. For the symbol, the asterisk was chosen as the special character. It transforms into an open book on a table, casting light. Other important elements of the visual identity were also created using characters.

Tartiner

Redesigning the complete packaging line for Tartiner was one of those projects that demand both stamina and dedication. An extensive job, full of layers and important decisions. At the same time, it was the chance to revisit an entire packaging family that we had originally created years ago. Growing alongside Tartiner, following each stage of this evolution, is an enormous privilege. Seeing this project recognized as a finalist in the Packaging Design category makes it even more special. And it doesn’t stop there: this project was also selected as a finalist during our very first participation in the ABRE Award, dedicated to packaging.

Tartiner makes artisanal spreads that contain only the essentials in each “little jar of happiness”. Together, they form a delicious rainbow of flavors. The goal of this redesign was to highlight the purity of the ingredients. Nothing better than the ingredients themselves, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, to show that each jar contains just one ingredient. A small jar silhouette, combined with that of the main ingredient, reinforces the use of pure ingredients, aligning the brand with the clean label movement.

Celebrating what matters

Every project we create is an opportunity to make a difference, to touch people, and to strengthen companies that believe in their own voice. This time, our projects made the shortlist, and while we didn’t take home a medal, being among the selected projects at the BDA reminds us that even a small team can connect with the industry’s leading names. Our gratitude goes to ABEDESIGN, to the jury for their careful evaluation, and especially to the people who trust our process and our work.
